The New Year
On the 31st of December, 2010, I spent the evening at Aureole with friends and then, with no crowd at 42nd and Broadway, watched the ball drop. Here's a pic and here's video. The whole week, from the evening of the 23rd until the evening of the 2nd was filled with fun, so much so that I didn't get to do any of the puttering I'd hoped to do. I didn't mess with my old photos, I didn't organize my files, I didn't look over my journal for 2010, I didn't try to make it through my backlog of New Yorkers (which I'd also hoped to give up in the New Year); nothing. I just had a great time with friends and that was far, far better. I'm looking forward to lots more of that in '11.
On the first of January, 2011, I started my Twitter/Facebook project. It will not make sense to anyone without this explanation. What I'm doing: going through my iPhoto photos and finding those pictures where I've taken pictures of text and then tweeting that text which then shows up on my wall. I may or may not update my status the same way I have since last July; only posting my travel plans. I also started my new journal method, keeping an hour by hour breakdown of my activities and then marking that on an All Year Round calendar which I'll keep at my office. I also gave up eating cookies. We'll see how that goes.
Yesterday, it'd been three years since I'd had a cigarette (here's what I wrote on my one year anniversary). I also updated my Facebook profile picture for the first time since October, 2008. I heard about it almost immediately, again.
Today, I made my lunch, am headed to work followed by a quiet evening cooking at home (more New Years resolutions) and looking forward to the new year like I never have before.
